One Small Step for The Bahamas

The ambitions of Bahamas Air and Sea Exploration Center (B.A.S.E.C.) are immediately present in its name, as well as in the design of its official logo. An archipelago of black stars sprawls across a blue globe, set on a background of yellow and gold. The historical symbolism of these colors on the Bahamian flag—a united people with the determination to develop the rich resources of sea and land—synthesizes a larger dialogue on the ties of scientific research and experimentation to natural resources and national identity. As Nassau’s answer to NASA, Strachan frames its mission as “getting the Bahamas involved in the global exploration conversation.”
